PLANS are in progress to carry out improvement works to a major South Essex road.

Proposals have been drawn up to widen the A13 from two lanes to three from the Orsett Cock roundabout through to the junction with the Manorway, A1014.

Work is anticipated to commence in early 2017 once confirmation of funding from the Government has been received, which is in addition to the £10 million towards the scheme from the owners of the London Gateway Container Terminal, DP World.

The improvements are expected to bring major benefits to Thurrock business and residents as well as users of the A13 from across Essex.

There will be some disruption during construction works and to highlight what this all means for road users Essex Chambers of Commerce are organising a breakfast briefing in conjunction with Thurrock Council and DP World.

The event which is free of charge takes place on Friday November 4 from 7.30am to 9.30am at DP World London Gateway, The Manorway, Stanford Le Hope.
