A man has died in a collision between a motorbike and a car in Orsett on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police at the scene arrested a 61-year-old man from Grays on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Officers said they were contacted shortly before 3.30pm on Wednesday September 21, with reports of a collision involving a Suzuki motorbike and a Citroen C3 at Stanford Road.

Officers, the ambulance service, an air ambulance and firefighters attended the road traffic collision on the junction with Baker Street in Stanford Road, A1013 Orsett.

The road was closed for forensic examinations until about 8pm and drivers were asked to avoid the area.

The arrested man has been released on bail until February 28, 2017 pending further enquiries.
