Sixteen Gurkhas completed an English Speaking Course at the Port of Tilbury this week.
The Port’s own Transport and Logistics Academy partnered with the Adult Community College in Grays to offer the course.
Each of the sixteen participants were presented with a framed certificate by Perry Glading the COO of The Port of Tilbury, who ended the event by congratulating the group in Nepalese.
A spokeswoman for the port said: “The Nepalese community have become part of the port family and their security positions as the gate keepers for the port, has now become part of the port’s history.”
Simon Harper from The Academy said: “We are always looking at how we can extend the training and development of our staff and this course is something we will be running again in the hope that we can offer it to further members of the Nepalese community connected to the port.”
