The Grays branch of the British Legion have launched an emotional public plea to help find its missing Standard after it 'disappeared'.
Staff at the branch said it was not used on a weekly basis, so its loss was only noticed after it was needed.
Sue Merrin, from the branch said the loss meant “a great deal” to the branch as it was their “identity” and stood for all they were trying to achieve.
Mrs Merrin said: “The loss means a great deal to the Branch, not only is it our Identity but it also stands for all that The Royal British Legion strives to achieve in supporting our Force's.
Mrs Merrin added: “We believe that someone has it stored in a cupboard or garage somewhere and have either forgotten that they have it or does not know who to contact to return it.
“The Branch does not have the funds to replace and as it is important to us we would like to be reunited with it.”
