A Frost Estate resident group is one of six Thurrock groups to be awarded thousands from the council to help clean up and fix roads.

Following years of campaigning, the Frost Estate Community Association was one of the bidders who managed to secure £126,000 towards road repairs.

Other successful bidders included Belhus Park Scouts for renovated kitchens and toilets and East Thurrock Community Association who will resurface a car park.

The new fund set up by Thurrock Council is called the Community Environmental Development Fund (CEDF) and awarded the winning grants this week.

A cross party panel reviewed applications for communities to improve their environment and approved six applications totalling £185,865.

The Frost Estate Association also raised a ten per cent match fund from Frost Estate residents to go towards the long-awaited repairs.
