A FRESH arts festival is coming to Thurrock next weekend.

The South Essex Arts Festival debut will see the Thameside Theatre in Orsett Road come aglow with a rich assortment of craftsmanship on Saturday July 30.

Created by GASS arts and the Thurrock Arts Collective, the venue will host works from both local and international artists.

John Gathercole, who runs GASS arts, said: "This is a great opportunity for all the arts and generations to come together and get involved in the local and wider arts scene.

"Plus a chance to make a difference to those in need as all proceeds from the Paint Offs go directly to charity."

Musicians, dancers, singers and craft makers will take over the entire complex from noon.

A showcase exhibition will spring up in the ground floor gallery.

An arts market will appear in the venue's third level.

Meanwhile, a body art zone offering glitter tattoos, face painting and henna tattoos will keep visitors entertained on the second floor.

The theatre will be showing short films on the big screen by local film makers and have a dance performance by the acclaimed Young Producers.

On the acoustic stage in the afternoon there will be 4 live acts, plus a retro alternative DJ set.

Thameside 2 hosts a craft corner for the kids and a life drawing classes.

The bar area will be selling local craft beers form Deveralls Brewery and plays host to an epic 3 legendary Showdown Charity Paint Offs featuring 12 local artists.

Plus the Thameside Café and Bar will be keeping everyone watered and fed.

The evening sees the main stage come to life with 4 live performances with alternative rock group Harper headlining.

A separate afternoon/evening pass costs £3 and an all day pass is £5.
