A GRAYS house has been vacated following allegations it was being used as a brothel.

Earlier this month, residents in Curling Lane complained a neighbouring home was being visited by men throughout the day, and had become frustrated the property’s estate agent had not executed an eviction notice.

Following a Gazette investigation – where a girl in the property offered our reporter sexual services – the house, situated at 29 Curling Lane was left empty on Monday.

The estate agent, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “It was all hear - say, we didn’t have any proof it was being used as a brothel but we were in talks with police.

“I did speak to the inhabitants after the allegation and on Monday they had left and put the keys on the table.

“I’m pleased to get all of this out of my hair and I hope we can put this be - hind us.”

One resident, who also wishes to remain anonymous for fears the opera - tion was run by an organised gang, said she was pleased with the result but was concerned the sex-workers would set up shop elsewhere.

She also voiced concerns for the working girls.

She said: “All hours of the day men would be coming and going. To begin with I just thought they had a lot of friends. I’m glad they left but it’s a shame police weren’t able to check any of this girls were OK.

“The trouble with this is that they’ll probably just move on and carry on elsewhere.”

The Gazette’s investigation came following a tip-off from a neighbour.

When our reporter spoke to a girl he asked the direct question: “You offer massages, but do you offer sex?”

The girl confirmed residents' suspicions.
