A TEENAGER has appeared in court accused of carrying out an acid attack which left two teenagers with life-changing injuries.

The 17-year-old appeared at Basildon Magistrates Court yesterday morning charged with three counts of grievous bodily harm with intent and two of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.

He was arrested after five teenage friends were allegedly sprayed with acid from a bottle as they sat waiting for train on their way home from a night out.

The defendant, who cannot be named because of his age, was brought up from custody into the dock flanked by two security guards.

Members of one of the alleged victim’s family sat at the back of the court for the five-minute hearing.

Dressed in a light grey coloured Adidas tracksuit, the teenager, from Dagenham, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

He did not enter a plea to the five charges.
