Chadwell St Mary
Herringham Primary Academy welcomed a new group of ‘Future Leaders’ in a special graduation ceremony last month. Year 2 pupils were given their diplomas by Mayor Sue Gray for the first time ever, along with Years 5 and 6. Various projects have been run by the group of ‘more able’ pupils since it started last year including: creating a ‘Future Leaders Cookbook’; planning and teaching a class of pupils; producing the ‘Herringham Herald’ newspaper; and even running a Christmas Market aimed at all different European countries and cultures. The young leaders also run their own weekly tuck shop, with all funds going to an outdoor library. Future Leader Coordinator Raj Shina said: “This is a continuation of a journey that started two years ago – the pupils are a real inspiration to their teachers, their friends and their families. Watch this space for their success!”
