A THURROCK UKIP councillor has been suspended after allegations abusive emails to residents were sent from his council email account.
The party is now conducting an internal investigation into the allegations against Councillor James Baker, who represents East Tilbury.
The leader of Thurrock UKIP Councillor Graham Snell confirmed Mr Baker had been suspended from the party.
Mr Snell, who represents the Stifford Clays ward, said: “We have suspended him pending an internal investigation regarding some emails which may or may not have been sent by him to a resident.”
A spokesman for Thurrock Council added: “We are aware of the allegations and we are looking into it.”
The Gazette has been unable to contact Mr Baker for comment.
