A former Thurrock Council housing boss is due to appear at Basildon Magistrates court this morning to face charges of housing fraud.

Former senior council officer Kathryn Adedeji, 46, of Dickson Road, London, is facing charges of conspiracy to defraud a housing association and dishonest subletting.

The charges, which are being brought under the Prevention of Social Housing Fraud Act 2013, follow an investigation by the council’s fraud team.

Adedeji was suspended by the council in December, the Gazette reported, as part of the internal investigation.

Kathryn is one of two Adedejis due to appear for committal to Crown Court at the Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The former housing officer is charged with dishonestly subletting two properties in London and failing to notify landlords of the change in occupancy of those properties.

Adedeji shares the charges of conspiring to defraud Circle Thirty Three Housing Trust Limited and Newlon Housing Association, with Blessing Temitope Adedeji, 40, of Glasshouse Fields, London.

Kathryn Adedeji is also charged with dishonestly making a false representation to Circle Thirty Three Housing Trust Limited, intending thereby to make a gain for herself or another, or to cause loss to another or to expose another to a risk of loss, by declaring in a tenancy check that she was living at 29 Granville Square, London and nowhere else.

A third charge amounts to concealing or disguising criminal property, namely rental payments received from Blessing Temitope Adedeji in respect of 29 Granville Square, London which were in turn paid to Circle Thirty Three Housing Trust Limited, between March 21 2014 and December 8 2015.

The alleged sublet properties were 29 Granville Square, London and Flat 7, 62 Glasshouse Fields, London, between March 21 2014 and December 8 2015.

Blessing Temitope Adedeji was also charged with concealing or disguising criminal property, namely rental payments received from Ajibola Lawal in respect of Flat 7, 62 Glasshouse Fields, London, which were in turn paid to Newlon Housing Association.
