A new service to help family and friends bereaved by suicide has been launched in Thurrock.
Facing the Future has been launched by Cruse and the Basildon & Thurrock Samaritans to help the “hidden victims” of suicide, such as grandparents, cousins or friends.
A successful ‘pilot’ group was run in February. and coordinator Karen Cash said: “We successfully completed one group session with great benefit to those attending and had a massive response from GP practice managers, highlighting the need to get this service out into the public domain.”
Samaritans Director Mark Smith said: “Our group went really well and my hope is that anybody who has been tragically affected by suicide will come forward to join a group.”
