A former Ockendon Academy teacher has been charged with five sexual offences against children.

Cory Baptiste, 23, from Fanns Rise, Purfleet, was a teacher at the Ockendon Academy until he was arrested in January.

His charges include using a fake Facebook ID to both incite sexual activity with a child age 13 to 17 and cause a child aged 13 to 17 to watch a sexual act.

The former teacher is alleged to have used fake social media accounts including Facebook and Snapchat using the fake names of 'Daniel Jenkins', 'Danielle Mason' and 'Dan Bounce Genny' to commit the offences.

In total, he has been charged with five offences of abuse of a position of trust: 

  • one of causing or inciting sexual activity with a boy aged 13-17;
  • one of causing or inciting sexual activity with a girl aged 13-17;
  • one of causing a child under 13 to watch a sexual act; 
  • two of causing a child aged 13-17 to watch a sexual act.

Baptiste has been bailed to appear at Basildon Magistrates Court on May 26.

An Essex Police investigation was launched following a referral from the National Crime Agency.
