Thurrock's libraries are taking part in the popular national Get Online campaign later this month.

The week-long campaign encourages people to find out how using computers can free up time, reduce stress, enhance leisure time, save money and keep people connected with friends and family. If you are confused by words such as Twitter or Facebook, Instagram or apps, the council’s libraries can help.

Whether you want to learn how to use a computer, a tablet or a smart phone, there is a new world to discover and the borough’s libraries can support people during the Get Online Week from 12 to 18 October. Thurrock Council Leader and libraries portfolio holder, Councillor John Kent, said: “All our libraries have free computers available for customers - and joining the library is free.

“There are also regular free basic computer courses, called Wiser4IT, all year round and you can book yourself in anytime.

“But if you want to see what all the fuss is about, take advantage of Get Online Week, pop in to see one of the planned sessions, and see how technology can work for you.

“The number of things that can be done online these days – from reading a book to paying your council tax - is quite remarkable.”

The sessions are: Chadwell, Monday, 12 October, 10am to 11.30am and 2pm to 3.30pm Grays, Tuesday, 13 October. 10am to 11.30am and 2pm to 3.30pm Corringham, Friday, 16 October, 10am to 11.30am and 2pm to 3.30pm
