Police have arrested a man on suspicion of careless driving after a double decker bus hit an 82-year old man in Tilbury yesterday.
The bus crash, which happened in Civic Square in Tilbury yesterday at about 4.20pm, left the elderly pedestrian with serious injuries, and had to be rushed to Royal London Hospital by air ambulance.
The elderly man is reported to still be in a life-threatening condition.
Police have arrested a 48-year-old man from Rochester and taken him to Grays Police Station for questioning before being released on police bail pending further enquiries.
He is due to report back on Friday November 20.
Police are now calling for witnesses to the collision in Civic Square to help with their enquiries.
Witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Pc Steve Catton at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
Civic Square had to be closed for around four hours whilst police and paramedics attended to the scene.The road was re-opened shortly after 9pm.
