A MAN in his sixties was struck over the head in an assault near a public park.
Police are appealing for witnesses after the 62-year-old was attacked just before 11.30pm in Whist Avenue, near Wickford Memorial Park, by being struck over the head.
The attacker fled the scene and the victim, from Wickford, was taken to hospital for treatment to a head injury and is now recovering at home.
Although eyewitnesses described a man running from the scene after the attack on Monday, August 3, no description has been made of the assailant.
Detectives are interested to hear from anyone who saw the man or who has any other information.
