A THOUSAND pounds has been stolen from a train ticket office at Southend Airport.
Officers from British Transport Police are appealing for the public’s help in identifying a man captured on CCTV at the station at the time of the incident, which took place on July 11.
Det Con David Bishop, leading the investigation, said: “We believe a man gained entry to the station ticket office at approximately 6.30am via the staff door.
“While there were staff on duty at the time, the ticket office was unstaffed.
“The man stole £1,000 before leaving the station via the main entrance on the airport side.
“The incident was reported to police later, when the theft was discovered by ticket office workers.”
Officers have been pursuing several lines of enquiry and wish to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV images.
Det Con Bishop added: “We need to urgently speak with the man pictured in these CCTV images, as we believe he will be able to assist us with our enquiries.
“If you know who he is, or have any further information about this incident, please get in touch with BTP or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
