LOCAL authorities and business leaders from across Essex, Kent and Sussex came together at the annual general meeting of the South East Local Enterprise Partnership.

In attendance was Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price who told the audience it was important that “we all work together to punch our weight with Government.”

She said: “Given how much this region contributes to the exchequer, any investment will give Treasury considerable bang for its buck. We should have had more investment in road and rail. London has received a disproportionate amount of investment."

Following the meeting Ms Doyle-Price said: “The Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership has, through the LEP, successfully bid for funding for the A13 widening and for capital to aid the Purfleet centre development.

“There are huge opportunities for Thurrock if we put forward a good case for Government support. This is the South Essex Powerhouse. I look forward to working with Thurrock Borough Council and colleagues in Basildon and Southend so that we can make South Essex be the best it can be."
