PARENTS could be quids in this summer with £1 children’s train tickets.

Train operator c2c is providing 4,000 extra seats between Shoebury and Fenchurch Street by doubling the most popular post-peak morning trains to eight carriages while offering £1 children’s tickets during the summer holidays.

The offer extends to children between the ages of five and 15 travelling with an adult, which includes season ticket holders and people who buy c2c advance tickets, until September 2.

Commercial director Clare McCaffrey said: “Summer’s here and we know what a popular time it is for a day out, whether sight-seeing in London or a day at the beach.

“That’s why we’re adding thousands of extra seats to our trains, and running our special ‘kids for a quid’ offer.

“Combined with our huge discounts on advance tickets, families can find really affordable days out with c2c.”

The National Express company has also launched an online ideas generator to give parents and grandparents top tips for possible days out during the school summer holidays on its website.
