THURROCK Council is hopeful of reopening part of Hogg Lane later this week.
Good progress has been made on the urgent task of dealing with the sink hole in Grays and re-opening the road to vehicles.
Last week workers filled the hole and the east section of the tunnel beneath the road with 315 cubic metres of foam concrete.
The foam concrete has filled and stabilised the hole and east area but there are concerns that there may be other holes under the road surface.
Workers will be drilling down to check the safety of the remedial works before we surface the road. The council hope to be able to open a lane at the end of this week if it is safe to do so.
The east footpath remains open at this time but may require a short term diversion to the other footpaths as the repair programme progresses.
