Thurrock Council has announced its mobile library service will close on Monday July 2 and the Homelink library service is being expanded to replace it.

This is to ensure that people who use the Council’s current mobile library service, which closes on Monday 2 July, will not lose out.

The Homelink service is a free service that helps people who find it difficult to travel to get library books.

Difficulties could include carrying heavy books, sight impairment or medical conditions.

An earlier call for volunteers proved so successful that Homelink rounds are available at most libraries.

All volunteers have received specialist training.
