The big white Fake Festivals marquee will once again be stopping off at Thurrock on Saturday, and the stage will be lit up ready for the world-class tributes to The Killers, Kasabian and The Stone Roses to rock out on.

As the UK’s only touring tribute festival, Thurrock Fake Festival at Blackshots Playing Fields is now a firm fixture in the summer live music calendar.

“When we held the first Fake Festival eight years ago in a small village in Yorkshire, I never imagined how popular tribute acts would become,” says Jez Lee, owner of Fake Festivals.

“People have really embraced the tribute act scene, and this has been proven by the increasing tour dates each year that we have to put on to accommodate demand.”

The Fillers, Kazabian and The Total Stone Roses are the best in their field. Not only do they sound like their idols, but they also look like them and perform the same stage shows as the real thing.

“All of our tribute acts spend hours studying the real bands and performers, making sure that their moves, styling and sound is exactly like the real thing,” continues Jez.

“It’s not as easy as a covers band picking up instruments and playing the same tune, they have to act out the routines, accents and costumes of the real bands, and style themselves appropriately, making sure they keep up with the latest trends. They all put in a lot of hard work to their performances, which is why they are the best in the business.”

Headlining the event will be The Fillers, tribute to The Killers, and they travel across the world delivering their frighteningly true likeness to The Killers stage show. Front man, Trevor Hurley, also performs in an original band in America that is made up of session musicians from The Killers called Most Thieves.

“It is a little strange imitating someone who you actually know and have had conversations with about mimicking them,” explains Trevor, aka Brandon Flowers. “It is a great job to have though as it enables me to travel all over, something which I love doing.”

“The tribute bands we have on the Fake Festivals tour have toured all around the world with their acts, and we’re very proud that the majority of them started their journeys with Fake Festivals,” continues Jez.

“If you have never experienced a tribute festival, then you should really try Thurrock Fake Festival for the day, I promise you will not be disappointed.”

Headlining this year’s event will be The Fillers, Kazabian and The Total Stone Roses, along with five local support acts including Filthy Gorgeous.

Filthy Gorgeous usually play live as a duo, but this weekend will be performing as an eight-piece. They go on stage at 3.45pm.
