A SALVAGE operation at Barry Island Pleasure Park has led its new owners to unearth some plants that need reviving and photographs needing identifying.
As demolition works continue of the outbuildings on the 4.5 acre site the Danter family has found some black and white snaps, beneath the rubble, who they think may hold fairground memories for residents or visitors to Barry in years gone by.
Meanwhile, 10 palm trees – worth around £1,000 each – that surrounded the fairground walls have been uprooted and re-planted in Stourport to be nurtured back to health and later returned to their former home.
Pleasure Park owner Henry Danter said the plants could survive in dry, arid conditions of a desert, but the neglected foliage needed some instant care.
He said: “We have got to give them 10 gallons of water a week. I love all plants, flowers and hanging baskets.”
