A WOMAN has been injured after her Mini spun out of control on a diesel spill and overturned.

It was among several collisions on the A27 today caused by the diesel leaking from a broken lorry tank.

The eastbound A27 is closed between the Devils Dyke roundabout just north of Brighton, and the Ashcombe/Kingston roundabout at Lewes.

A Sussex Police spokesman said the woman suffered a minor injury and other collions had also been minor.

Inspector Andy Judson, of the Surrey and Sussex Road Policing Unit, said: "Please avoid the eastbound A27 between Brighton and Lewes until further notice.

"The Highways Agency are attending to clear the diesel away but this is quite a long stretch of road and their clear up may take some time."

The westbound carriageway of the A27 remains open.

The lorry believed to involved has been traced to the A27 at Southerham. The driver will be interviewed.
