LEE Knight says he wants to leave Alvechurch on a high after agreeing to join Highgate United.

Knight is set to move on from the Lye Meadow outfit once the season has finished and team up with Ash Pulisciano as joint boss for the Birmingham outfit.

While Church have completed their Midlands Premier fixtures, they have at least one more game left when they entertain Tividale in the semi-final of the JW Hunt Cup tomorrow night (7.30pm ko).

Knight said: “I been at the club long enough to make a good assessment of the players at the club and knew what we wanted to do.

“We wanted to bring in some strikers last month but it didn’t happen.

“But Highgate have really rolled out the red carpet for me, it is very much the team Ash and I had together at Studley and Racing Club Warwick.

“I got to a place where I know all the players and it feels like home.

“I feel the players I brought into Alvechurch have done well, Toby Checketts has been outstanding, while Luke Dugmore and Tom Giddings have also been good.

“Unfortunately, Craig Thomas could no longer play because of a family bereavement.

“But I will continue to do my best and I am completely focused on the game against Tividale.”

Alvechurch signed off from a disruptive season with a 3-0 defeat to AFC Wulfrunians, their fourth game in a week, after losing to Long Eaton last Tuesday and drawing 1-1 with Heath Hayes on Thursday.

Knight was their third manager of the season, with Ross Thorpe and Lee Adams also moving off the hot-seat at Alvechurch.

Chairman Richard Thorndike said: “It was an amicable parting and Lee has said he will stay until the game cup games are over.

“We looked at the last 12 games and the results weren’t great. He also missed out on some forwards which didn't help.

“But we wish him the best of luck and we start again this summer.”
