THE mum of tragic schoolgirl Toni Connell is demanding answers over her death, claiming police are withholding key evidence from the investigation.

The family are desperate to unlock the mystery around the 15-yearold’s sudden death on February 25.

Amanda Connell, 46, says Essex Police have refused to release information from two of her daughter’s phones, as well as unlock her Facebook account.

She said: “We have heard nothing, and we are not getting the evidence. The police have been diabolical – how are we supposed to get closure until we know what happened?

“I just feel like we are being blocked time and time again. It almost feels like they are covering something up.”

In a bid to protect her daughter from cyber bullying, in which she’d received death threats, Mrs Connell banned the use of Facebook and phones.

Following her death, the family were shocked to discover Toni, pictured, had two Facebook accounts that blocked Mrs Connell.

The last thing Toni is believed to have been doing before she died was writing an application to her dream drama school on her laptop.

Mrs Connell, of Frances Gardens, South Ockendon, spoke out after Toni’s death about how she felt academic pressure at her daughter’s school, the Ockendon Academy, had contributed to her death.

A spokesman for Essex police said: “Two phones belonging to Toni Connell have been returned to the officer investigating the circumstances leading up to her death following forensic examination.

“A number of other inquiries are being completed before these mobile phones can be given back to her next of kin.

“We apologise for any distress this may be causing, but we want to ensure all inquiries are complete.”
