A HARDSHIP fund which supports destitute asylum seekers urgently needs donations.
The Lifeline project says it will close unless it receives cash help to support families unable to return to their country of origin but forbidden to work or seek benefits by the government.
The group has helped people from countries such as Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Congo and China, and last year assisted 221 destitute refugees by providing 1232 nights of shelter, more than double the demand in the previous year.
It also distributed a total of £16,625.
The group needs to raise £39,000 this year, with every penny going to pay for food or shelter.

Donations can also be made, to Positive Action on Housing, at banks.
