Police have charged a teen driver with careless driving after a car crashed onto the railway track in Stanford-le-Hope on Monday.

On Monday evening, a silver Ford Fiesta went through a chain link fence on Waltons Hall Road and ended up on the C2C rail line at about 9.30pm.

Insurance broker Jordan Walsh, 18, of Princess Margaret Road, Tilbury, has been charged with driving without due care and attention, driving a motor vehicle otherwise than in accordance with a licence, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance and aggravated vehicle taking.

The accident caused train delays and minor injuries to the driver.

He has been bailed to appear before Basildon Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 2.

A teenager has been arrested after a car hit a fence and became stuck on railway tracks after an accident in Stanford-le-Hope.

Emergency services were call to Walton's Hall Road at 9.30pm on Monday after reports a silver Ford Fiesta left the road and went through a fence onto the rail track.

Fire crews have reported the vehicle was stuck on the track, but nobody was trapped inside.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the incident.

The car was removed from the tracks by 12.50am on Tuesday March 17.

British Transport Police confirmed the driver was arrested at the scene.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "A silver Ford Fiesta had gone through a chain link fence on Waltons Hall Road and ended up on the C2C rail line.

"The occupant of the car suffered minor injuries to his wrist and the fence was damaged.

"Rail services were disrupted whilst the car was removed.

"The car did not come into contact with any trains and the Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been informed."

An 18-year-old man from Tilbury was arrested at the scene on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance and careless driving. He is currently being questioned at Grays police station.

Trains on the c2c line were unable to run between Grays and Pitsea while the line is blocked.

An Essex Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "A tow truck has been requested to remove the vehicle from the railway line.

"Fire crews completed their work at the scene at 10.25pm.

"The incident was left in the care of British Transport Police."
