Two men are being questioned by police following an incident at a pub in Herongate.
Officers were called to the Boars Head in Billericay Road, at just after 4.30am today following reports of a burglary in progress.
Suspects were believed to be in the cellar.
PC Dave Bridge and police dog Diesel were first on the scene and saw a Ford Transit van parked near to the side of the pub with its side door open.
He blocked the door and Diesel went inside the building.
A 30-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
A number of bottles of alcohol were found in the yard outside.
Another man aged 24 and from Tilbury, was arrested by other officers at 4.50am on the A128 Brentwood Road, also on suspicion of burglary.
