THE mother of a schoolgirl injured by a hit-and-run driver has blasted the man who left her child laying bleeding in the road.
Katy Billinghurst, 15, was hit as she was crossing the road outside Gable Hall School, Corringham.
She was flung over the bonnet of the car, leaving her with a cut head, bruises all down her left side and needing treatment for shock.
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward, after the driver left the scene, before Katy was taken to Basildon Hospital.
Katy’s mother, Laura Crabbe, of Torridge, Tilbury, said: “I’m fuming.
“I just hope they catch the man because he should be made to pay for what he’s put her through.”
The car is described as small to medium-sized and white.
Anyone with information about the incident, on Monday, January 12, at 3.10pm, can call PC Steve Smith at Chigwell road policing unit, on 101.
