Aveley Christmas Market filled the High Street from end to end this year as over 3,000 people turned up to do some Christmas shopping.

The Market’s ‘biggest and most successful market to date’ had over 60 stalls stretching from roundabouts at each end. Stall holders on a waiting list were still looking for spots right up to the Friday before the market.

A spokesperson for the Forum said: “We had a great day at this year’s Aveley Christmas Market. There was no snow but blue skies and a bit of a chill did not stop people coming to the Forum’s biggest market so far. If this many people turn up again, we will need a bigger street next year!“

The Market raised money for local charities including the Nicky Mason Memorial Fund, the Greyhound Home and Breakaway Respite Care.

The Forum’s Active Aveley Year funded by Awards for All was also launched on the day. Change4Life, the Family Information Service and Vitality offered people health checks at the market.

The crowds enjoyed music from Aveley & Newham Brass, Ormiston Park Academy’s Glee Club and the Forum’s own Music for Change. Aveley Twirlers also danced and the Crown & Anchor had a festive singer.
