A GROUP of Thurrock residents have got together to hold a ball in a bid to raise money for Ebola.

The group of eight social workers have been touched by the plight of children infected and affected by Ebola in West Africa and hope to make a small difference.

All money raised will be donated to Save the Children UK to assist the charity’s work in West Africa.

Yan Samu one of the fundraisers, said: “Children are quite vulnerable and many are being left as orphans and isolated in communities where Ebola currently carries a lot of stigma.

“As Social Workers working with children ourselves, we have decided to raise money for Save the Children UK who has projects in Sierra Leone and Liberia where they have treatment centres.

“They also provide 21 day survival packs and psychosocial support for children orphaned by this deadly disease.”

The ball is being held on Saturday, November 22, at The Orsett Hall, Prince Charles Avenue.

Tickets cost £50 per head and this includes a three course meal, live entertainment, a raffle and charity auction.
