A SHOWER caught fire in a first floor bathroom.

Firefighters were called South Avenue, Southend, at 2.34am today, where they found the 10 by five metre property was 25 per cent aligh, and the entire building smoke logged.

Two fire crews wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the blaze by 3.08am and a high pressure fan was used to clear the property of smoke.

There were no reported casualties and an investigation is being launched into the cause of the fire.
