STUDENTS from Gable Hall School took part in a marathon challenge for charity.

Teachers Miss Pooley and Mr England organised 25 students to take part in the World Marathon Challenge to raise money for Save the Children.

As a team, they needed to cover 26.2 miles (105 laps of the track) 200 metres at a time, competing against thousands of schools across the world.

The team took two hours and seven minutes, beating Paula Radcliffe’s women’s world record by eight minutes and missing the men’s record by four minutes.

A school spokeswoman said: “This fantastic time means the team are currently ranked in third place worldwide.”
