FLOODING and heavy rain has caused chaos across South Essex this morning.

Firefighters have been called to flooding in Letzden Road, Canvey; Christchurch, Tilbury and Merricks Lane, Basildon to pump water out of properties.

Residents have also reported surface water flooding in Benfleet and Thundersley, including Rayleigh Road, Daws Heath Road, Beresford Gardens, Hart Road and Manor Road.

Traffic is queuing on the A127 London-bound between Tesco Roundabout, Southend and A130 and there is disruption around Highlands Road in Hullbridge with flooding on Watery Lane.

In Wickford there is slow moving traffic on the A132 South Bound between London Road (A129) and the Nevendon Interchange (A127).

Essex Police is warning motorists to drive safely through water and emergency services are dealing with a number of fallen trees and reports of localised flooding.

Deep surface water is also affecting a number of major routes and local roads.
