POLICE are looking for two people in connection with a string of bike thefts over the summer.

Four cycles were stolen from train stations along the c2c Rail line in August - including at Grays and Stanford-le-Hope.

British Transport Police have issued an image of a man and a woman they want to speak to.

The first theft took place at Upminister station at 1.15pm on Friday, August 1.

PC Jack Bower-Wilson said: "A man and a young woman approached the cycle racks outside the station.

"The man cut the locks off a black and orange Claude Butler mountain bike worth £300, and a grey Trax bike valued at £70.

"The pair then rode off on the cycles."

Police think the man was also involved involved in the theft of a silver Trek mountain bike worth £250 from Grays station at around 2pm on Thursday, 7 August.

PC Bower-Wilson added: "We think he then went to Stanford-le-Hope station on Friday, 8 August with the young woman who accompanied him at Upminster.

"This time, he stole a black-and-white Reflex bike worth £90.

"I think the people in the images we are issuing today have information about these thefts.

"Who are they? If you know, please contact BTP."
