AN event at the Civic Hall in Grays this weekend aims to transport you through the history of dance music.

Billed as “the biggest house music event Thurrock has ever hosted”, Kiss 100 breakfast DJ Charlie Hedges is topping the bill at History, an event organised by the same team that hosts Pzaz.

Local man Leon-C, returning to the county after sets in London superclubs Ministry of Sound and Pacha, will also be playing, alongside Dean Wardle, Joanne Harper and Louise Thomas.

Competition winner Sheree Hambleton, from Grays, will also be performing after 70 people applied to play on the night by sending in a 20-minute mix, showcasing their talent.

Stu Whiffen, who is promoting the event, said: “We sold out the Civic last time we put on History and this is looking like it’s going to be the same. We have seen DJ Charlie and she knows how to take the party to a different level.”

Tickets for the event on Saturday, which starts at 8pm, are available by calling 07834 470632, from the Thameside Theatre, or by paying on the door.
