A POPULAR comedian is opening a comedy club in Rayleigh.

Lancashire comedian Jason Manford will be opening Manford’s Comedy Club at the Rayleigh Mill Arts Centre on October 3 with the intention of staginf four comedians there once a month.

After visiting the centre last week, he took to Facebook yesterday to ask people whether they felt there was a demand for live comedy in Rayleigh.

He said: “So I visited a cute little Art Centre in the sleepy Essex town of Rayleigh last week to see if it could viably sustain a monthly comedy night for Manford's Comedy Clubs!

“The staff seem convinced, the comedians fancy it but my question is, is there enough demand for it?”

Comedians Tiffany Stevenson, Ivan Brackenbury and Ed Gamble will be performing under the Manford banner at the venue from 8pm, with tickets selling at £10 plus a £1 booking fee.
