A WOMAN had to be treated for breathing in smoke following a kitchen fire.

Emergency services were called to Russell Road in Tilbury after a kitchen caught a light at about 11am.

Fire crews from Grays and Orsett reported that the fire was in the kitchen but that the whole of the three-storey townhouse was heavily smoke logged.

Firefighters extinguished the fire by 11.24am – they then used a high pressure fan to clear the building of smoke.

The 40-year-old woman was left in the care of the ambulance service.

There is no information relating to the cause at this stage.
