THE Thurrock Music Education Hub is on the lookout for the borough’s most talented young musicians.

Working in partnership with the Royal Opera House and the Rotary Club of the Mardyke Valley the Music Hub will be offering young instrumentalists and vocalists a free Masterclass on a piece of music of their choosing.

The classes will be held in the following categories: orchestral strings (including classical but not electric guitar); woodwind; brass; percussion; piano; and vocal.

They will be led by musicians of the orchestra of the Royal Opera House.

Young musicians who show exceptional talent will be invited to go through to the finals night on Monday, November 24 and compete for the title of Thurrock Young Musician of the Year 2014.

Many of the past winners of the competition have gone on to successful careers in the music industry.

Workshops take place on Sunday, November 16.

Both the workshops and final will be held at the High House Production Park in Purfleet. Students aged between 11 and 18 who live or study in Thurrock are eligible to enter.
