A MAN suffering skin cancer claims he was “mistreated” during a raid on his home in Corringham.

Ian Dunne told how armed officers arrived at his home after an allegation against his mum which accused her of having a firearm.

Mr Dunne, 33, who is currently recovering from an operation on his right arm after being diagnosed with skin cancer, insists he was mistreated during the raid.

He said: “Around 20 plus armed police officers with eight cars and a dog arrived at my house on Saturday.

“They had a search warrant for a firearm which turned out to be untrue.

“At the time I was in bed resting because I literally had an operation on my arm the week before.

“However I was called down and I made clear to the officers not to hold my right arm because of the operation. I kept saying I have skin cancer and have just been operated on so please be careful.”

Mr Dunne insists that while most of the officers took note of what he said there was one who ignored his pleas.

He added: “One of the officers took my arm and flung it hard into the wall.

“My wound has completely opened and I’ve been in so much pain since.

“I’m now at risk of infection.

This seriously should not have happened. Another officer had to apologise on his behalf. I was in shock.”

A spokeswoman for Essex Police said: “If the man wishes to make a complaint he is advised to contact the Professional Standards Department to do so.”

Mr Dunne has so far made a complaint at his local station.
