A CREW member aboard a tanker moored at Southend Pier was taken to hospital after suffering burns.

The RNLI Lifeboat House was alerted to the incident, in which the crew member received minor burns in an accident involving hot water, at about 6pm.

A coastguard team took him from the tanker to an ambulance crew which took him to Southend Hospital for treatment at about 7.20pm.

The tanker was moored at the Leigh Small Ships Anchorage between the deep water channel and the pier and was bound for Rotterdam.
