FAMILIES came together at Stanford Rugby Club to celebrate its 40th birthday.
The club, in Grove Road, hosted a summer camp over the holidays, encouraging youngsters to get involved with the sport.
To celebrate the club’s landmark, a three-day event was held which included an awards ceremony for those who attended the summer camp.
Medals were handed out to youngsters, aged between six and 13.
Chairman of the club, Robin O’Connell, said: “It was an excellent event, all three days were great.
“Altogether, 55 children turned up of all ages We also had the mayor here.
“It was a great way to celebrate the club’s birthday. We taught the kids how to enjoy the sport as well as sportsmanship and discipline.
“Overall, the event was a massive success.”
Sponsors of the event included Tesco and the Co-op.
