RESIDENTS gathered together for their annual street party, which has taken place since 2010 in Waverley Gardens.

This year, it was dedicated to raising funds for cancer and epilepsy research charities, after the deaths of two neighbours in the last year.

The event was organised by the Waverley Wives.

Vivienne Crouch, a member of the group, said: “We would like to thank our two local shopping centres, in Crammavill Street and Socketts Heath, for supporting us in our efforts to raise funds for these two charities by donating gifts for the Waverley Wives to hold a raffle.

"There was also a bric-a-brac stall and lollipop game that also raised funds.

“Roger and Ken, from Neighbourhood Watch, also had a stall to give advice about house crime prevention and selling items to prevent house burglaries.”

A magician was also present to entertain guests and residents were provided with fish and chips.

Mrs Crouch added: “The street party was a huge success. Our magician gave a performance for free and neighbours and friends gave generously in the two charity boxes provided on the green.”
