THE Thurrock International Film Festival is heading back to town next month.

It is set to be held from Friday, September 26, to Sunday, September 28, at the Thameside Theatre, in Grays.

Hollywood regulars, including award-winning editor Richard Francis Bruce, who worked on the Shawshank Redemption and Seven, and American Horror Story star Evan Peters will choose the winners of this year’s short film competition.

The festival promises to bring something for everyone and will kick off with horror movie, Psycho, on the Friday, at 8pm, followed by Disney’s masterpiece Mary Poppins on the Saturday morning.

Event organiser Natalie Williams said: “It’s a special screening for children. Don’t worry if they don’t sit still or stay quiet – in fact, if your little ones want to sing along, we don’t mind.”

Blockbuster musical Grease will be shown at 8pm on the Saturday and guests are strongly encouraged to come in fancy dress, as there will also be a competition for the best dressed.

On the final day, free tea and biscuits will be available for those attending the screening of Oklahoma!, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic cowboy musical, at 4pm.

The film festival was started in 2012 by film-makers Natalie Williams and Benjamin Scarsbrook, who aimed to create a festival that would entertain, educate and give film-makers a place to showcase their work.

Tickets for this year’s event are priced from £1 to £3.
