Garden centre remembers war heroes
STAFF at Thurrock Garden Centre held a display to commemorate the fallen of the First World War.
The centre, in South Road, worked with the South Ockendon and District (Belhus Park) branch of the Royal British Legion to organise the remembrance event to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the war.
The display in the garden centre was arranged by the two managers, Alan Marsh and Sarah Shadlock.
The event then moved on to the memorial garden at the Royal British Legion Club, in Faymore Gardens.
A service was held, where all the lights were switched off, followed by a two-minute silence.
