A STREET party was held in Corringham to commemorate the beginning of the First World War.

The Andersons/Acres Area community celebration events committee organised the party in Corringham Road.

Guests included the mayor, Steve Liddiard, and the mayoress, Patricia Forrester, who also judged a children’s fancy dress competition.

A family disco was also held in the evening.

The event was organised by residents, who also donated towards the event.
