DETECTIVES are appealing for information on a man in connection to an assault.

On Thursday, July 28, a man and woman were walking along London Road, in Grays, opposite the DAF Trucks site when a black man became involved in a fight with them.

The 26-year-old man from Ockendon suffered a small cut to his hand and bruising – he declined treatment from the Ambulance service and went home.

The woman, aged 20 from Grays, had been struck with a brick on the head.

She later became unwell and was treated in hospital for a bleed on the brain.

Police enquiries have not been able to identify the suspect. He is described as 5ft 7 inches tall, slim build, short afro style hair, shaved on the sides and bigger on top and with a well kept bushy beard.

He was wearing dark jeans and a blue jumper with cream swirls. He also wore a black leather belt with a square belt buckle, which he used during the assault.

Anyone who can identify the man responsible is urged to contact Dc Nicola Hadfield at Grays CID on 101.
