Thurrock 0 - 1 Needham Market

Grays Athletic 1 - 1 Leatherhead

Brighlingsea Regent 0 - 2 Aveley

East Thurrock United 0 - 0 Wingate and Finchley

My word. What a ridiculous way to end a football match.

Let's pick the bones out of it:

Tilbury squander a two goal lead to draw 2-2 with Harlow Town.

Sam West opened the scoring for Tilbury. Tom Wood then doubled the lead before half time.

In the second half, Michel Toner was sent off for putting Harry Cook on the floor with a headbutt.

Harlow gave themselves a lifeline through Jared Small's 77th minute goal.

Then Pooley - who was outstanding up until that moment - blocked David Cowley's shot with his hand. He received a booking for that.

Alex Read missed the penalty, but scored the rebound. In the goalmouth seconds later, Aaron Waters and James Smith came to blows. Waters was shown a straight red card before Smith was given a second yellow.

Then minutes later, Pooley made a clumsy tackle on the left hand byline. He was shown a second yellow. And marched off furious, exchanging heated words with Layne Eadie on his way.

And that really took the shine off a superb Tilbury performance in which they deserved to take all three points.

Full time: Harlow Town 2 - 2 Tilbury

He's furious and clearly feels it's harsh.

Tilbury - Jake Pooley

Then two minutes later,  there's more drama and the game's gone mad. Heads have gone.

Pooley makes a late lunge on Read down the left. The referee is straight over to give another yellow.

In the aftermath, there's a scuffle in the goal net. Waters is shown a straight red and Smith a second yellow.

Harlow Town - James Smith

Tilbury - Aaron Waters

Driscoll saves Read's spot kick, getting down to his right. But the ball goes back across the goal line, easy for Read to tap home.

GOOOAALL!!! HARLOW TOWN 2 - 2 Tilbury - Alex Read, 88'

Cowley feigns a shot, then blasts the ball goalward! It hits the hand of Jake Pooley....

But Hunt's offside!!!

Waters clears Read's header off the line...and Tilbury attack............

Harlow go close again. Eadie's cross from the left is a good one. It's picked up at the back post by Small, who  delays shooting and is eventually tackled by Wood.

The corner is cleared. Town ramping it up here!!! Five minutes to play.

Tilbury - yet again- break superbly! Christou wins the ball on the edge of the Tilbury box with a great tackle. He plays it up to Hunt, who wins a race with Simms, from the corner he tees up Wood who plays the ball low into the box to Cook, but Cook can't get a shot away!

Then seconds later, Eadie gets a cross in from the left, it falls to Cowley but his shot is blocked by Small - his team mate!

Jared Small, the former Grays Athletic forward, shields the ball, plays it to Read, who scuffs the shot, but Small is first to the loose ball and slips it past Driscoll into the goal.

Tilbury: Gary Henty off, Emiel Aiken on.

GOOAALL! HARLOW TOWN 1 - 2 Tilbury - Jared Small, 77'

The ball in is cleared, James Smith's shot on the edge of the box is then blocked.

Free kick in the right hand corner now for Harlow, as Waters fouls Small.

Thompson is keeping Town in this. Hunt latches onto a long ball, but is narrowly beaten to it by Thompson.

Seconds later, Cutler plays the ball to Cook whose shot is saved.

Great save from Thompson!!

Wood gets down the left wing, cuts the ball back to Cook and with a fair amount of time, Cook looks to stick the ball in the bottom right hand corner. But Thompson gets down really well to tip the ball away.

Then Joe Christou goes close for the visitors. He's played through and under pressure from Eadie, shoots low from 18 yards. The effort's saved by Thompson.

HUNT HITS THE BAR! What an effort. He holds the ball up brilliantly before looping a shot over Thompson that clatters the bar. Great stuff!

James Smith booked for Hawks for kicking out at Pooley after the young full back had made a great tackle to deny Smith crossing.

And that's Harlow's chance of the game just gone!! Excellent ball in from the left by Simms... but  Read's header from point blank range is blocked by the sprawling Driscoll!

The game's growing scrappy. West takes down Small as Harlow flow forward.

Free kick played into the box by Cowley, cleared by Waters.

We resume from the original free kick. Sam West plays a ball up to Chrisou on the left. He expertly controls and crosses it in to the box. It falls to Carlile, 20 yards out, but he mis-hits the volley

Red card - Michael Toner

Now we have some handbags. Town are angry that Tilbury have been awarded a free kick on the half way line. As the referee deals with that situation...Toner floors Cook.

The linesman saw it. And Toner is red carded. Town down to 10.

Harlow beginning to turn the screw now. They're seeing far mor of the ball and their play is more direct.

Harlow Town: George Smith on for Shane Stamp

Then off go Dockers on the counter attack.

Cook gathers, plays a superb one-two with Hunt, but his shot from 20 yards strikes the bar! Great play by Tilbury. Their forward play has been so good this afternoon.

Then Pooley makes an excellent block to deny Smith from a well worked corner!

Cowley's ball into the box is excellent, picking out Jared Small at the back post. He takes a touch to set himself but his shot is blocked by Waters.

Christou fouls Shane Stamp. Chance for Town to get the ball in the box. They've not started the half too well...

Hunt then heads over the subsequent corner.

Excellent work down the right from Joe Christou. He nicks the ball away from Cowley, plays in Hunt but Hunt's attempt to then play in Cook - unmarked in the middle - fails.

Ben Hunt does well to create some space, but his low shot trickles wide.

Harlow should be level!!!! Shane Stamp heads over when it was harder to miss.

Harry Cook twists and turns in the box before  hitting the post! It matters not...he was offside according to the linesman.

The second half begins!

Scores elsewhere:

Brightlingsea Regent 0 - 2 AVELEY

GRAYS ATHLETIC 1 - 1 Leatherhead

THURROCK 0 - 0 Needham Market

EAST THURROCK UNITED 0 - 0 Wingate and Finchley

A fantastic half for Dockers. Paul Vaughan's side look very dangerous everytime they go forward.

Harlow looking very disjointed. They've come close, Cowley hit the post. But Cook, Wood, Hunt, and Christou are causing the defence all manner of problems.

Good half, I can't see Harlow being any worse than that in the second half, though.

Half time: Harlow Town 0 - 2 Tilbury

Goal! Goal! Goal! It's Tom Wood. Lovely one-two on the right hand side of the box between Cook and Ben Hunt. Cook looks to be fouled but Hunt gets the ball across. It evades everyone, ending up at the back post with Wood he taps home from two yards.

GOOOAAAALLL!!! Harlow Town 0 - 2 TILBURY - Tom Wood, 45'

Shane Stamp dances around two defenders in the box but then trips over the ball. He one twos it with Smith before sending a shot straight at Driscoll.

In fact, some of the comments from the Harlow fans below me are embarrassing!

The Harlow faithful are giving the referee a really hard time. But I don't think he or his assistants have got one thing wrong yet.

Wonderful 20 yard strike by Cowley curves round Driscoll but hits the post!! It comes back out and Tilbury clear.

Tilbury look lively and exciting going forward - good width, options down the middle and lots of pace too! Town can't cope.

Harlow are all over the place at the bacck. Joe Christou flies past Eadie down the right. His touch into the box is heavy and Thompson blocks the ball. But it spills loose, Harlow fail to clear and Cook is almost able just to tap home, Urquhart blocks and Harlow win a free kick.

Tilbury take the lead! It's a scrappy goal, but a goal none-the-less.

Waters plays in the free kick from the left, Cook was in acres of space but when he should have gone with his head, he went with his foot, but he recovered quickest, was first to the loose ball. He got it back across and the ball landed with West, who lashed it home!

GOOOAAAL!! Harlow Town 0 - 1 TILBURY - Sam West, 29'

We're back underway

Break in play here as Urquhart is treated. He was the defender with Cook just a moment earlier. He's not come off too well. No change yet though.

Now Cook, the league's top goal scorer, gets away for the first time down the left. He's well tracked though and under pressure, can only cross the ball into Thompson's arms.

Cowley hits it low and hard, but Driscoll is down well to save.

Free kick in a really dangerous position for Town. Nice intricate play on the edge of the box, and Smith attempts to duck and weave his way through. Felled, says Mr Richardson

Ben Hunt gets in behind the Harlow defence. He's played in by Wood but can't get a decent shot away from six yards out.

At the other end, Jared Small has a good low shot saved by Driscoll.

And Cutler goes close! Thompson can only half clear Waters' corner. The ball is teed up for Cutler but his 18-yard strike is just over the bar.

Now a corner to Tilbury.... Waters over it...

CLOSE! Town counter attack as the free kick is cleared. James Smith bounds down the left wing, feeds the ball to Cowley who is in behind a sparse defence, but his shot across goal is wide

Another free kick for Tilbury in a similar position to earlier. Waters will again take it. Wood was scythed down by Shane Stamp.

Players with arms all over each other in the box but the ball is forced goalward some how. Easy for Driscoll though.

Corner now for Harlow that Cowley will take...

Excellent stuff from Small, he wins a foot race with Wood, nicks the ball away, gallops off down the right and plays a nice ball in towards James Smith. His shot is blocked.

Free kick to Tilbury in a dangerous position. Waters, the Tilbury skipper plays it in.

It's a smashing ball, too. West gets his head on it, forcing a food save from Thompson. But again, he's offisde.

Nice feet from Hunt in the left hand corner for Dockers, his cross is long though.

Neither side quite finding their range at the moment.

Cowley, who's looked very bright in the middle for Harlow early on, pings a lovely cross-field pass from right to left, but Stamp's cross is disappointing and Tilbury clear.

Shout for a penalty as Glasgow appears to handle in the Harlow box. Corner says referee Daniel Richardson.

There's a noisy band of Harlow fans behind the dugouts, generating a decent atmosphere at this superb football venue.

Bright start by Tilbury! Ben Hunt is getting in behind the Town defence with his pace. Harlow yet to settle.

Sam West has the  goal in the back of  the net for Dockers, low ball in falls at the centre half's feet, but he's offside!

Harlow won both of their opening games and have scored six goals in the process.

Tilbury beat Brightlingsea on day one, but were beaten 2-1 by Burnham Ramblers on Tuesday night.

And we're underway!

It's second (Harlow) vs tenth (Tilbury.
