MARITIME Group Limited has acquired on of the largest container transport companies in the UK.
Maritime, with a long established operation in Fort Road, Tilbury, has bought Aegeus Transport Limited, the holding company for Roadways Container Logistics Limited, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal, completed on Friday, August 8, includes the entire company, employees and assets of Roadways.
This includes 374 employees, a fleet of 241 vehicles, all of Roadways sites at Hainault, Felixstowe, Leeds, Manchester, Nursling in Southampton and the Birmingham Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) at Birch Coppice in Tamworth.
John Williams, Group Managing Director of Maritime, said: “We are very excited to acquire Aegeus and Roadways.
“This is a strategic move and a really excellent fit with Maritime. Altogether the combined business will provide much greater scale, scope and services for customers.”
“As a committed market leader, I believe Maritime offers the best long-term future for the business and we look forward to working with Roadways’ customers, suppliers and employees.”
The combined business will operate a fleet of 1,300 vehicles and an unrivalled UK transport and storage network with Railports at Tamworth and Tilbury.
